The greatest strength of our group has always been its Supers; that’s what we call our volunteers. In costume or out, event planning or on-site, as part of the Build Team or administration, everyone is a Super because each and every volunteer brings heroes to those who need them.
Superhero-ing is all business. Who are we kidding? No, it’s not. It’s a ton of fun! And our Supers get the opportunity to participate in some of the most fun events on Vancouver Island. Running with, or cheering on, kids in fun runs and bouncing along with special needs kids at trampoline parks. Spring fairs, charity trick-or-treating, parades, and so much more. Batman’s been seen rappelling from the tallest building in town during Rope for Hope. Spiderman has taught kids the ropes at an outdoor obstacle course at WildPlay. Wonder Woman has joined her fellow goddesses at the Goddess Run. Whether it’s high-impact fun or low-key assistance with games sand activities, there are volunteer opportunities for everyone.

We have quite a few Supers who are either cosplayers or costume/prop makers themselves and have their own costumes. For those who don’t, we have the Costume Vault: a collection of costumes put together by our Build Team and constantly changing, added to, and upgraded. These costumes are kept on-hand for any volunteer to wear. Come try on a few and find something that fits just right to bring out your inner Superhero.
Some of our newer Supers are a bit self-conscious suiting up. We’re always happy to work with them to put together their own personal Super-suit in the perfect size.
Our motto is: Anyone can be a Superhero! The only prerequisite is the desire to help others. Volunteer opportunities with us are always coming up, so never feel like there is a “minimum participation” required. Some Supers are students and volunteer only in the summer. Others live overseas and can only Super when they’re in town once or twice a year.

Try being a Super with your family or friends. Volunteering as a family is one of the most fun and rewarding outings you can have. We strongly promote a positive body image as well as youth volunteerism, and we make sure all our Supers help create a safe space for anyone to join. We treat our fellow Supers as family and have a lot of fun together, during or outside of events.
